Having spent nearly two decades in the public sector, for the last 8 years Summer has focussed on how to improve policy-making to address social inequality, criminal justice and racial disparity in public services. Among the initiatives she has developed are access to aid for those living in fuel poverty, mainstream sports and arts projects for children who are vulnerable or at risk, and employment opportunities for those leaving the criminal justice system.
Summer also led strategy and communications at the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales for 3 years, gaining insight directly from young people across the country to shape or influence changes in approach where it is most needed.
