Letter from CEO to Peer Power supporters RE Covid-19

Letter from CEO to Peer Power supporters RE Covid-19

Dear Peer Power Supporter,

I write to inform you of some of the actions we have taken regarding the spread of Covid-19 infection. From w/c 9th March 2020, the whole Peer Power team, including the Peer Power Experts, began remote working and stopped all non-essential work related travel and groups to support the health, safety and wellbeing of all of us and the people that we come into contact with. We are managing this through the use of conference call facilities, Whatsapp groups, Google Hangouts, Zoom, Slack and the use of other apps such as Houseparty for youth engagement purposes.

We are managing to deliver on our contracted work through these channels, and we have found, to our surprise, that some elements of our engagement work have been improved by these changes in our communication. This is testament to the numerous strong and trusted relationships that we have existing within our team and with the Peer Power Experts, who have also been supporting each other in addition to support offered by our team. We will continue to support young people involved, and will monitor our staffing and our project deliverables over the next 3 months or so and will keep you keep you updated about any changes.

In the coming months, there will without doubt be some impact upon some aspects of our work and income; our ability to form new relationships with young people in the community, the planned recruitment of new members to our team, and on new relationships with funders and donors. Building strong relationships is what we thrive on at Peer Power, and I am hopeful that we will find new ways to be resourceful and continue to build our community creatively via other channels.

We are extremely grateful to our funders that have been in touch to reassure us of their support and flexibility in the coming months in respect of our project deliverables, reporting requirements and income. The reassurance you have given us allows us to focus on the safety, health, wellbeing and social needs of our team and the Peer Power Experts, thank you.

I can be contacted directly for further information if required at email: amdouglas@peerpower.org.uk

Yours sincerely,

Anne-Marie Douglas
