In September, Peer Power Youth were delighted to be invited to a National Lottery Community Fund stakeholder reception to celebrate community-led work. This event brought together four leading UK-wide Youth Voice projects. Attendees heard from young people who shared their stories of what has enabled them to thrive and the impact they have created across their communities.
Peer Power Youth was invited to take part to showcase our empathy-led approach and the meaningful involvement of young people with lived experience in shaping care and youth justice services. Young Partner Adam and Peer Leader Meg represented us and did a superb job delivering their own speeches and sharing their journey as a young person working in partnership with our charity. Their powerful messages of meaningful participation, love and care in professional relationships, and the importance of listening to and valuing young people within decision-making spaces shows the impact of how embedding empathy into practice can have transformative effects.
This event was a fantastic opportunity to raise the visibility of Peer Power Youth’s work nationally, strengthen relationships with the National Lottery Community Fund, and position young people as leaders and changemakers. It also reinforced our organisational commitment to sharing power and co-creating alongside young people in every public and professional space we are part of.
We were honoured to share the space with the inspirational young people from the other organisations. We would like to thank The Lift for hosting us – what a tremendous venue and youth-centred space in Islington! And finally, a heartfelt thank you to Joanne Rich and Aisling Cohn for the invitation and making us feel so welcome.

Peer Power Youth is a youth led charity working with young people aged 10–25 who have experienced trauma, including abuse, neglect, exclusion, and injustice. We are an empathy-driven organisation working to transform services by inspiring young people with lived experience to have a voice.
Since we began in 2016, Peer Power Youth has supported over 1,000 young people and 7,000 professionals, helping to embed youth voice at the heart of care services.
Our goal is to transform services so that they meet young people with empathy, equity, and care – not control. We want services to support children and young people early, to prevent harm from escalating.
